Description Adrien Plazas 2017-11-03 07:57:54 UTC
I tried to attach a file by dropping it on the message header but it didn't work, I had to use the file open dialog instead.

I would be great to use a drag and drop portal if it exists and if not to create one.

Hi Adrien, thanks for reporting this. I can't reproduce this locally - dragging a file from Nautilus to the header area converts the header area to a drop zone and dropping the file there attaches the file.

Can you say which distro, desktop, and file manager are you using, and which versions of those and Geary?
Comment 2 Michael Gratton 2017-11-04 06:55:52 UTC
Oh, I only just noticed you said Flatpak, and I can indeed reproduce it running in the sandbox. Apologies for the noise, will try to get it fixed in the next release.
Comment 3 Adrien Plazas 2017-11-04 08:38:57 UTC
No problem. :) FYI, I opened this bug too: https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/1143.

Since this is going to require some Flatpak/portal/etc infrastructure to support I'm not sure if this will get fixed for 0.12. Clearing target milestone until something gets sorted out there.
Comment 5 Federico Bruni 2017-12-12 07:39:54 UTC
Yep, I confirm it on current flatpak package: I drag a file and a popup says something like "`/path/to/file` not found" (even if the path is correct).
Comment 6 Roger 2018-06-10 12:55:34 UTC
I just wanted to add that I too am experiencing this issue in Flatpak along with the "Attach File" button doing nothing when clicked.
Comment 7 Michael Gratton 2018-06-11 09:20:08 UTC
Hi Roger, the problem with the "Attach File button not working under Wayland is actually a bug in Mutter: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/138

If you are using Ubuntu Bionic, you'll probably want to subscribe to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1774560
