I was trying to open the chromium repository using gitg, but it seems that the directory is so huge for gitg to open (~16GB). the program hangs for a while and then crashes.

stack trace is attached.

I can confirm this bug. Just tried to take a look into the Linux Git-Repo (~2GB) and gitg simply crashes after some time.

I'm using gitg version 3.17.1 on Ubuntu 16.04. with XFCE.

Attached a stack trace too, but looks similar to the one of pizi.
