Description Sylvia Sanchez 2017-06-17 11:42:45 UTC
It would be very useful if there was some kind of flag, tag, icon or label to mark a recipe as already shared. Specially for people who have many recipes stored.

I thought of the following options:
 * A small or medium sized icon in a corner or next to the title
 * A corner painted in a different colour. E.g. white for not shared and sky blue for shared.
 * A tag next to the title.
 * A different colour in the title.
 * A tag or flag on a corner.

Thank you very much!

Can you describe the workflow where marking a recipe as shared is useful? Currently we only export recipes, rather than share them. Is this more about marking recipes that have been sent for inclusion with the app?

it is about knowing which of your recipes you have already contributed (ie exported and sent by mail to recipes-list@gnome.org), so you don't contribute them again.

We do know this, in principle: the shared recipes are stored in a different file, so we can easily recognize them. We use this information to offer sending an update when you edit a shared recipe. Maybe we can just expand this and inform you that the recipe is already shared when you try to send it again, without making changes ?

But that's not useful. You have to actually open every recipe and trying to send it to find out which recipes weren't shared yet. It's waste of time, particularly if you have many recipes.
My point is to see which recipes I already shared and which ones I didn't at first glance, so I can focus on the ones I didn't share, leaving aside the others.
If you have 10 or 20 recipes, you don't want to open and try to share/send to the mailing list, one by one. You want to see this at once.

Doesn't it says "Share => to mailing list / with a friend" in the dialogue when you press a button on the recipe's bottom saying... "Share" ?

so, if I understand this correctly, this is only relevant on the 'my recipes' list. We could just put a small marker into the tiles there ?

Well, I rather like something fancier like a star, but yeah, that's the idea.
And yes, it's relevant in "My recipes" list only.
