Description Ondrej Holy 2017-03-30 16:53:11 UTC
Private messages (PM), which I received before opening the chat room, are not shown. It happens only with nicks, who haven't sent me any private messages yet (which means there isn't any history yet)...

Steps to reproduce:
1/ Send PM to yourself from some nick, who haven't sent you any PM yet.
2/ Open the chat room directly in the application, or from notification.
3/ Chat is empty, but the messages should be there...

It is pretty annoying, however, you can close the chat and open it again as a workaround...

Marking as critical because I think that "losing messages" is a major problem and needs to be fixed in stable.

Just a note that this is maybe somehow relevant with Bug 777486.

I've also seen this with 3.25.91. The message did show up in a notification, but wasn't in Polari's scrollback.

I've just had this issue and decided to register and comment here.

I wasn't aware that closing and re-opening the conversation would show it, but coming from a "standard user" point of view I had the notification that I had been sent a message but couldn't see the full message anywhere as within Polari the chat was blank.

Let's close this in favor of https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/polari/-/issues/161.
