Here is a screenshot of the issue I am asking about.

I apologize ahead of time if I might have filed this in the wrong section.

I have been having an issue trying to zoom in on the icons within the Gimp toolbox. I tried going into edit preferences, reinstalling, and I tried to install with one of their mirror links. I am currently using my laptop. When I opened it on my desktop computer everything appeared normal so I am unsure if it is a compatibility issue.

Which operating system and screen resolution is this about?

Hi,

Current solution for GIMP 2.8.x is to find HiDPI themes (there are a few, you have to search the web).

GIMP 2.10 will have a better control on icon sizes, though it is still somewhat limited. Work has already started on this topic.

GIMP 3 should have much better native support for HiDPI screens.

I guess I'll close it as duplicate of bug 745835 since it's the same known issue.

Ashley, the reason why you don't see the issue on your desktop is simply that it has a lower pixel density, whereas your laptop obviously has a higher pixel density (usually called "HiDPI"). Your solution in the meantime is to find a new theme proposing alternate (bigger) icons for GIMP 2.8.
These will be third-party themes, since GIMP 2.8 is not released with such icons (it will from GIMP 2.10).

Thank you for the previous explanation on the pixel density. Adding HiDPI to my search did help me find a working theme this time.

The font did not appear small to me. Comparing it to GIMP on my desktop; it seems to be the same size. I can read both with ease.

Thank you for your help.
