GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 776588
Windows not always drawn in correct places in AO when under Wayland
Last modified: 2018-07-24 11:12:29 UTC
After switching from Xorg to Wayland on Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with GNOME 3.22 I have found that quite often windows will be drawn in the wrong place in the Activities Overview: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1653153/+attachment/4797929/+files/Window_drawn_wrong_place_AO.png I initially filed a report on the matter here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1653153 But thought I should also report it upstream. Further information including logs is provided in the downstream report.

Since 3.24 on Arch Linux I have also noticed that if one is to go into the AO and: 1. Shift-click to open an application without leaving the AO, or use a keyboard shortcut in order not to have to go back into the AO but to stay in it. 2. Before the window for the application appears in the view click and drag and carry on holding any window in the AO. 3. Release the window when the new one comes up. If you follow the above steps then you should see something like this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1653153/+attachment/4871581/+files/Overlapping_Windows_In_AO.png And if you do the above, but instead of opening a new window, you are to click the "x" button on and then quickly click and drag a window you will either find that the same thing happens, or a large gap is left like here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1653153/+attachment/4871582/+files/Gap_Left_In_AO.png

Are there any plans to fix this for the upcoming gnome 3.26 release? Just curious!
