Hello,

In gnutls backend we have possiblity to specifies where the trusted root certificates location:

For example:
./configure --with-ca-certificates=/etc/ssl/ca-bundle.crt

From where openssl backend read the trusted root certificates?

It seems we hit the same issue :)
