GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 774997
Missing option to delete thumbnails generated by nautilis
Last modified: 2021-06-09 16:28:54 UTC
I am looking for a option to clear the thumnail cache (~/.chache/thumbnails/) in GNOME without having to do so manually. In All settings > Privacy i can select to delete all temperaty files, and it even says that all tempterary files will be deleted but the thumbnails dont seem to get deleted. It would maybe be a good idea to write exactly what is deleted instead of all when it is not the case. And then some where add option to deleted the thumbnails. Maybe there could be an extra option in Nautilus setting to delete the thumbnails where there are other thumbnail option or a link or description thats tells the user where or how to delete the cache, so that for example after the user turns thumbnails off that the user can also delete the ones that have already been generated. Or maybe delete the thumbnails automatically when the user choose never to show thumbnails or something like that. Maybe https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=723905 talks about the same.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
