Description Mohammed Sadiq 2016-11-14 15:21:06 UTC
It would be nice if Lock/Unlock can be done via a configured bluetooth device.
Say if the bluetooth device (Headphone, mobile phone, smart watch, etc) gets close enough with the computer, the computer gets unlocked. And if the devices get too far than a specified range, the computer shall get locked.

Unlock via bluetooth can be a security issue. So the user may better be allowed to configure what should be done. On the other hand, the user can just take his phone and go, which shall make the computer lock, which would be really nice.

Currently there exists an old application that does this[0], but it would be nice for this to be implemented in GNOME itself as many major Operating systems are doing the same.

Thanks.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
