Description Tanu Kaskinen 2016-10-26 14:11:41 UTC
Evolution version: 3.22.1-1 (Debian testing)

I haven't so far used signatures with Evolution, but now I attempted to add one. I failed.

How to reproduce:

(The initial state is that there are no signatures created.)

Open Edit -> Preferences -> Composer Preferences -> Signatures tab.

Press "Add". The "Edit Signature" dialog opens. Signature Name is automatically set to "Unnamed". Let's leave it that way.

Write "test" to the text area for the signature.

Press the "Save and Close" button. It does nothing!

Ok, that was the main bug, but let's continue a bit further, because there's other odd behaviour too.

Close the "Edit Signature" dialog from the X in the window corner. Another dialog pops up: "Do you wish to save your changes?".

Selecting "Save" closes the question dialog, but the "Edit Signature" dialog stays open. Selecting "Discard changes" closes the "Edit Signature" dialog, and as expected, the Signatures list stays empty since saving didn't work.

Now close the "Evolution Preferences" window. At this point there are four tasks in the task list at the bottom of the main Evolution window:

* "Release unreleased memory for folder 'tanuk@iki.fi : INBOX/pulseaudio-bugs'"
* "Release unreleased memory for folder 'On This Computer : Drafts'"
* "Saving user interface state"
* "Retrieving message"

(Update: now there are six tasks ongoing, the same two memory releasing tasks were added for the second time to the task list.)

The tasks make no progress, and trying to close Evolution doesn't work, presumably because the pending tasks would have to finish first. Eventually a dialog appears that asks whether to close Evolution immediately or to continue waiting. Choosing immediate close results in the window getting closed, but the evolution process still doesn't exit. I started evolution from command line, and ctrl-c finally makes the process exit.
