GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 771517
Network icon can disappear when enabling/disabling a static IP network via control center
Last modified: 2018-07-19 11:06:57 UTC
With gnome-shell 3.21.91, NetworkManager 1.4, and a wired connection configured with a static IPv4, when I disable/enable the network connection from the "gnome-control-center network" screen multiple times, I can get GNOME Shell's network icon to disappear. In that case, the menu entry is also non-functional to restore the network... In the logs I see this: sept. 16 03:57:53 kali-rolling gnome-shell[620]: JS ERROR: TypeError: item is undefined NMConnectionDevice<._activeConnectionChanged@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/status/network.js:387 wrapper@resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/lang.js:178 This has been reported here initially: https://bugs.kali.org/view.php?id=3577
This is now tracked in gitlab: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/140
