AttributeError: module 'pythonconsole' has no attribute 'OutFile'
   is bug 759075.

   no idea.
Comment 4 Bastien Nocera 2016-09-12 12:27:21 UTC
Are you using Wayland? If so, you'll need to remove gstreamer1.0-vaapi:amd64.
Comment 5 gnome.vrb 2016-09-12 17:20:57 UTC
That worked!

root@unstable:~# ps -aef | grep -i way
Debian-+ 1756 1399 0 22:35 tty1 00:00:00 /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-wayland-session gnome-session --autostart /usr/share/gdm/greeter/autostart
Debian-+ 1826 1779 0 22:35 tty1 00:00:00 /usr/bin/Xwayland :1024 -rootless -noreset -listen 4 -listen 5 -displayfd 6

root@unstable:~# ps -aef | grep -i xorg
dev 1927 1925 5 22:35 tty2 00:00:50 /usr/lib/xorg/Xorg vt2 -displayfd 3 -auth /run/user/1000/gdm/Xauthority -background none -noreset -keeptty -verbose 3

I didn't explicitly install Wayland. So, should I report this to debian package maintainers ?
Comment 6 Bastien Nocera 2016-09-12 17:25:22 UTC
Wayland is the default for GNOME 3.22, at least in the betas. Please file a bug against your distribution about that.
Comment 7 gnome.vrb 2016-09-12 17:43:35 UTC
Debian gnome maintainer: Why exactly do gstreamer1.0-vaapi and wayland conflict?

Is there any link which answers the above question?
Comment 8 André Klapper 2016-09-12 18:58:06 UTC
@vrishab: I don't think that "Debian gnome maintainer" will see your comment here. ;) Please use Debian's mailing lists, IRC, etc...

Wayland is not the default session in Debian and we don't install
gstreamer1.0-vaapi by default. So no, I don't think there is a bug or
something we can do about this downstream.

Ok.

Why exactly do gstreamer1.0-vaapi and wayland conflict?

No idea about that. I've updated the bug on this query.

Because the former uses X11 without checking whether it is on X11. It's a bug there.

Thanks. I've conveyed it to the maintainer.
