GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 765109
Open Recent Items always show as empty in Gedit
Last modified: 2020-11-24 09:58:07 UTC
Created attachment 326101 [details] Open Recent Items show as always empty in Gedit Gedit doesn't show the recently opened files under File -> Open Recent. In Open Recent it only shows Reopen Closed Tabs but that is also not active (i.e not clickable). ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: gedit 3.18.3-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-16.32-generic 4.4.6 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-16-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Apr 14 13:16:33 2016 SourcePackage: gedit
"Open Recent" should NOT be removed, but reinstated. The "Recent" option in the open file dialog does not do the same thing. It doesn't look for the files which gedit recently opened, but instead shows ALL files (or optionally all text files) whether they were edited in gedit or not. And sometimes it shows nothing at all, even though I've been editing stuff all day. It is a MAJOR ANNOYANCE not to have this feature anymore!
Sorry, I just realized that if you click on the "Open" tab instead of going to "File/Open", that there is a (relatively short) list of recent files. Can the number of items be increased, e.g. to 16 instead of five?
Mass-closing of all gedit bugzilla tickets. Special "code" to find again all those gedit bugzilla tickets that were open before the mass-closing: 2bfe1b0590a78457e1f1a6a90fb975f5878cb60064ccfe1d7db76ca0da52f0f3 By searching the above sha256sum in bugzilla, the gedit contributors can find again the tickets. We may be interested to do so when we work on a specific area of the code, to at least know the known problems and possible enhancements. We do this mass-closing because bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org.
