I definitely prefer this color to the darker one currently in master! Since I think most themes are very similar except for color (no?), we'll keep the dark one only in GIMP for the time being, which will be the main one to test and debug. Then in the end, when we decide which themes, and how many of them we will ship, we will commit all the ones we decide to keep. Thanks for the continuous hard work!
Thanks, yes technically it's all the same theme :) Only tonality varies with them. That way it will always feel the same no matter which is chosen. I've updated all the other ones with the kde fix in the meantime and made them all new screenshots with the new set of icons that were missing.
Oh and i've made new patches and new downloadable 7z (minus the current dark theme in master) for the lot of them.
As an aside if you look at the screenshots you'll notice that yin/yang icon doesn't come out well in them and should be redesigned or changed.

For now i'll be tracking changes to these themes here https://github.com/Draekko-RAND/gimp-themes

That's text, not graphics. Looks like a locale problem. I don't see how the theme could affect that since the theme only tells gtk how to draw the widgets and not the text? What [OS/WindowManger/DesktopTheme/GIMP Version] are you using? What version of the theme are you using? Does it happen with the default or small themes? The latest version is 0.1.0, you can confirm this by opening its gtkrc and near the top is the version info. I disable all font settings starting with that version. To be safe go to https://github.com/draekko-rand/gimp-themes to get the latest one if its not here already. Find them under releases as .zip files.
Btw from your screenshot this doesn't look like the alternate one ;) reference the screenshots from the link i provided previously to tell the difference :)
Also i believe that "The Dark Side of Gimp" theme that's shipped in git/master is slightly behind, and lacking a few KDE updates from the one from the link up there.
Created attachment 318190 [details] Rectangles gone blurryness stays Dear Ben, Theme was The-Dark-side-of Gimp I used the gtkrc delivered with latest build from here https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulasch/+archive/ubuntu/gimp-edge It had no version number. After exchanging gtkrc with latest from https://github.com/draekko-rand/gimp-themes the recangles disappeared. And overall impression is much better now. What remains is some 'blurryness' of the 'greyed-out' text (in standard-theme) seems you are using some kind of shadow. see attach Kind regards Klaus > What [OS/WindowManger/DesktopTheme/GIMP Version] are you using? Before i forget it .... I'm using ubuntu gome 15.10, x-org, with gnome 3.16, theme adwaita, gimp is 2.93 from https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulasch/+archive/ubuntu/gimp-edge
I'm not sure what you mean by blurriness?
(In reply to Ben from comment #15) > I'm not sure what you mean by blurriness? If you look at my screenshot you see that in some cases (e.g. in highlighted Ansicht. line 'Fenster anpassen') the text has a 'shadow', (e.g. 'Vollbild' one line later is clear readable) In original gimp this is 'greyed-out' (means it is in 'light-grey' instead of black and it can't be selected). The 'shadow' makes the text hard to read, or in other words it looks blurred.
That's not done by the theme. Not sure that i can change that at this point in time.
Oops saved that before i was done. I'll take a look that and see if that can be improved.
The "blurryness" is a "drop shadow" hard-coded into the GTK rendering engine and is impossible to remove/theme other than by using a non-standard rendering engine.

Created attachment 318511 [details] Minor glitch If there wouldn't be the already discussed blurryness due to dropshadow this would be my absolute favourite. Maybe it has to do with my screenres (1920x1080) One minor glitch in recent build, see red circled area in attached screenshot, the arrows are dark. Great work (seriously). Merci
(In reply to Klaus Staedtler from comment #21) > > One minor glitch in recent build, see red circled area in attached > screenshot, the arrows are dark. That's not controlled by the theme, the icons have there own theming setup now. I guess that there would have to be n new one added to the new sets. > > Great work (seriously). Merci Thanks.
(In reply to Klaus Staedtler from comment #21) > > One minor glitch in recent build, see red circled area in attached > screenshot, the arrows are dark. > Solved arrows are correct after restart. This doesn't change 'on the fly#, as the other icons do when changing the icon theme.
Maybe open a new bug report for that.
