In the calendar view, you can see which is the time frame that each event cover over its title. This makes locating the titles harder. Also it does not add clarity at all on which time frame the task cover, as the time is already in the left side of the window.

California is not under active development anymore and saw its last non-cosmetic code changes in March 2016: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/california/commits/master

Its codebase has been archived in https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/california/issues/1
