GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 758458
[wayland] window size (height) too big after opening a second tab in half-maximized window
Last modified: 2016-04-07 13:19:23 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 0. run gnome-session with gnome-shell on wayland 1. open gnome-terminal 2. half-maximize window 3. open a new tab What happens: New tab's content area has the same size as old tab's. Window is too big to be displayed completely, its last 1…2 lines are drawn outside the monitor thus not visible. What should happen: gnome-terminal's window should stay half-maximized after opening new tabs.
g-t uses whatever window size gtk+/the WM assigns it.
I'm in the habit of using the 'vertical maximize' keybinding, rather than maximizing to the left or right, and the same thing happens: 0. login with the GNOME on Wayland session 1. Open gnome-terminal 2. Hit the 'vertical maximize' toggle to stretch the terminal to the full height of the monitor. 3. Hit Ctrl-Shift-T to open a new tab. 4. Lose the last 1-2 lines off the bottom of the screen. 5. Toggle 'vertical maximize' off and back on again to resize the window appropriately. 6. Close the new tab. 7. Get a 1-2 line gap between the bottom of the window and the bottom of the screen. 8. Toggle 'vertical maximize' off and back on again to resize the window appropriately.
This issue is gone in gnome-shell, gnome-terminal and gtk+ 3.20. Thank you!
