GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 758395
Files can't be dropped into Firefox under Wayland, but text can
Last modified: 2016-09-01 10:42:19 UTC
Under X11, I can drop files from Nautilus into Firefox to add attachments in Gmail, upload documents in Google Drive, share images on imgur.com. Under Wayland, I can't do that - the mouse point resets immediately to a standard pointer when I cross the boundary of Firefox window and the dragged file disappears, nothing happens. But this only affects files. I can still drop text into Firefox (into text fields), e.g. from gedit. I'm not sure if this is Firefox issue or compositor issue, please advise. gnome-shell-3.18.2-2.fc23.x86_64 mutter-3.18.2-1.fc23.x86_64 nautilus-3.18.1-1.fc23.x86_64 firefox-42.0-2.fc23.x86_64 gtk3-3.18.5-2.fc23.x86_64 gtk2-2.24.28-2.fc23.x86_64 PS: I tried to do the same with Epiphany and it crashed, so I can't directly compare: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1283980
Works fine with 3.20 under gnome+wayland sessions. Can someone please confirm and close this issue? My versions: firefox-45.0.2-1.fc24.x86_64 gtk3-3.20.3-1.fc24.x86_64 glib2-2.48.0-1.fc24.x86_64 nautilus-3.20.0-1.fc24.x86_64 gnome-shell-3.20.1-1.fc24.x86_64
Tested on Fedora 25, it works now.
