Bug 724738 added support for saving user-defined display symbols for non-currency commodities.

However, this value is not actually shown in the UI.

I commented upon this issue briefly in bug 723145, comment 30, but that was probably not the right place for it.

Thank you for your patch. I have pushed it to the maint branch, together with a small follow-up change to reduce some code duplication.

Both changes will appear in the next stable release (2.6.10, december).

It was the right place actually, I misinterpreted that comment then. With your patch in this bug I finally understood what the issue was.
