Description Christian Stadelmann 2015-09-24 14:08:17 UTC
With gnome-shell 3.17.9x and 3.18.0 the system status menu entries get cropped. This e.g. affects the battery status display: Instead of displaying
2:54 verbleibend (54%)
it just displays
2:54 verbleibend (5...
which makes the user unable to understand what is meant. A user needs to click on the item and open gnome-control-center (at least 2 clicks plus some mouse movement) to get the information hidden here.

This issue affects most entries in the system status menu. This issue might be locale-specific (in my case German locale). It might be worse with other locales using longer strings.

Suggested resolution: Please make the system status menu autoscale (auto-width) as it was in 3.16, which worked fine btw.
