GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 752515
Similar Album Names By Different Artists Combined Into One Album
Last modified: 2016-11-21 15:37:15 UTC
When you have two or more albums that have the same name, they are combined into one album into Music. For example, if I have one album named "Cool Album" by the artist "Foo" and another album also named "Cool Album" by the artist "Bar" they will be under one artist (chosen one unknown) in the Artist tab and one album in the Album tab with the same artist from the Artist tab under the name of tha album. I can also see a problem with compilation albums with various artists, so perhaps something should be implemented with that. MORE INFORMATION Files used on my machine are all ogg vorbis files.
I can confirm this bug. Many Artists have albums called "Greatest Hits" and I find all the songs inside the "Greatest hit" folder of the first Artist in alphabetical order.
this is a pic http://imageshack.com/a/img537/3963/8NHccE.png there's GunsAndRoses, RedHotChiliPeppers, Blink182 all in the same album
Issue is present in 3.17.4.
Updated to 3.18.x as problem still exists in 3.18.2.
This is somewhat inverse related to bug #734265 . Point is that albums are differentiated on their title only (in tracker terms on nmm:musicAlbum and titles are not so unique. So we probably should also incorporate some other identifiers in the specific queries without breaking album grouping as a whole. The extended problem is that it will break nmm:albumArtist tagging, since the tracker:id for the nmm:musicAlbum is one and the same for all artists involved in such a non-uniquely named album. Can you by the way test with the latest stable 3.20? The queries have been somewhat reworked and might already have solved some of the issues.
It is still present in 3.20.2 in Arch Linux's [extra].

I have investigated this bug. It is due to grouping in album and artist queries only by album not by album and artist.
This should be tackled mostly with #773697 & #774260 . Please test.

This is now available in tracker 1.11.1 & music 3.23.2 . You might have to -re-index your music files. Please test and report issues fresh.
