Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it. Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Cannot reproduce in debian jessie with gcmd 1.4.7 (backported), not with mp3 or with several other types tested, not in ext4 or in FAT fss.

I can not reproduce this behavior on Gentoo Linux, too, and heard that it is not reproducible with Fedora 22. So it seems to be a Ubuntu specific bug. Please consider to file a bug there: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs. Thanks in advance.

I had a lot of dependency problems with the Debian testing/sid system, trying to install the stack trace/backtrace stuff i was forced to make a dist-upgrade and my system has turned unusable, so i made a new install (i wanned to install amd64 anyway) now i have Gnome Commander 1.4.3 on Debian stable 8.1 and the problem has gone. I installed ver. 1.4.7 and the crash is no longer reproducible.
Sorry for not being able to make a stack trace about the problem
