GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 747828
Status icons banner placement always hides bottom left corner space
Last modified: 2015-04-14 08:25:25 UTC
Created attachment 301513 [details] bottom-left corner of my screen See attached image, which shows the bottom-left corner of my screen where I have a gnome terminal open running "vi". I've written ":wq" in the "vi" command input, but the ":" isn't seen because of that slider to show the status icons... :( I'd very much prefer to see fully the "vi" command input section instead of that thing that I hardly ever use, truth be told. The bottom side of the screen is very critical for me, as my maximized terminal apps will end up putting the current line there... and I would bet I'm not the only one. Why not add that banner somewhere else, like in the space in the topbar which is never ever used, between the center and left or right corners? That space is always black pixels, always, regardless of what application you have open... Well, or fully hide it or something.
For reference, the topicons extension moves those icons to the topbar. Not saying that should be the way to go, just alleviates the issue as I can take back control of my precious bottom-left corner.
