With upcoming graph I wanted to change the limits on both axis to
[-4,+4].

It doesn't stick.  When I press F9 repeatedly you can see the center
move around.  When I reenter the properties page, some of the fields
have been set back to automatic.

I think I see what is happening.

Merely unclicking "Automatic" is not enough.  You have to actually change
the limit before the change sticks.
