GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 746842
provide a scalable -symbolic variant of the app icon
Last modified: 2015-04-29 19:25:17 UTC
Starting with GNOME 3.16 we streamlined how high contrast icons are managed. The attached patch includes a symbolic variant of the app icon that is used for HC theme and recolorable at runtime. See https://wiki.gnome.org/Initiatives/GnomeGoals/HighContrastAppIcons for more details.

Created attachment 300659 [details] symbolic icon in use Nice! Isn't the flower a bit hard to see in the small variant? The wiki page mentions a "3.16 status". Wouldn't we require a freeze break for including it in 3.16?
The symbolic icon is really needed for GNOME 3.16, so if you're OK with the icon, please do backport it.
Done! Pushed it with a fix that made sure the file is installed into the correct system directory. Thanks for the icon, Jakub. :) commit c20253fc65fa22a0f603e1cff72c0a5d3543dfb1 Author: Felix Riemann <> Date: Wed Apr 29 21:11:50 2015 +0200 icon: Install symbolic app icon into the right location Make sure the icon installs into the system data dir instead of the package data dir.
