GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 745322
MATE apps showing in the Editor's Pick section

Created attachment 298152 [details] screenshot See attached screenshot. It's obvious that we don't want this kind of apps there.
Comment on attachment 298152 [details] screenshot Apps are apps... as long as they are not causing problems with straight-up copied icons, names and descriptions, I think there is no reason to shun them. Arguably, the system monitor there does have this issue, but we brought this upone ourselves in this instance by using a 'standard' icon as app icon here.
Shouldn't it be hidden if MATE is not listed in GNOME_SOFTWARE_COMPATIBLE_PROJECTS? Hiding confusing forks of our apps is exactly why that functionality was introduced.
The way I see it, the Editor's Pick section is meant to showcase high quality apps that we want to recommend to our users. Do we really want to recommend forks of GNOME apps? In this screenshot you can see two mate forks of gnome apps: a gedit fork and a system-monitor fork. I don't think we should ever recommend apps that duplicate the functionality of system apps, the place this system monitor takes could be used to show some app which is actually useful for people. Note that in gnome-software on F21 I don't even see these apps (even when searching for them specifically), but on gnome-software on F22 I do see these app.
