Description Alberto Salmerón Moreno 2014-11-04 10:45:19 UTC
When searching inside a PDF document in Evince, a side panel opens with the results found (updated live while typing the search string). Each search result item shows a bit of text and the page number.

When clicking a search result, Evince should take you to the corresponding page. Instead, Evince does nothing, so you have to go to that page manually.

It used to be the case that the current page also jumped to the first search result (if the current page does not have any), but not anymore. I guess these two bugs are related.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open PDF document with Evince
2) Click on search button (or press Ctrl+F)
3) Type some text expected to be found in the document
4) Click on one of the search result items on the side panel

Expected result:

5) Evince shows the page in which the result is found

Actual result:

5) Evince does not change the page that is currently showing.

This bug has been reported on Launchpad for Ubuntu 14.10, running Evince 3.14.1: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1389159

Does this happen with any document?

It works for me.

Reported in Fedora 21 at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1162254

The bug happens consistently for me, but only when continuous mode is turned off
(as per the Fedora bug report).

Germán, do you want to see if you can reproduce it with continuous mode off?
Comment 3 Germán Poo-Caamaño 2014-12-12 07:06:02 UTC
Thanks for the information.

Indeed, with continuous mode off the bug is easy to reproduce.
Comment 4 José Aliste 2014-12-12 14:19:43 UTC
The bug appeared when we merged the Show results sidebar.
