Description Antoine Saroufim 2014-10-19 14:43:14 UTC
If a user types too fast and then decides to delete a few letters using backspace, the input becomes laggy. The actual input falls one letter behind the cursor and new letters that are typed would take a few moments to appear on the screen (they might suddenly appear in "bursts"). This happens on various apps such as Almanah, Firefox, and Gedit. It only happens under gnome-shell and mutter.

mutter has no control over your keyboard input, that's the X server's job. Do you have any reason to suspect mutter is causing the slowdown?
Comment 2 Antoine Saroufim 2014-10-19 17:56:39 UTC
I've only noticed this happening under gnome-shell. It doesn't occur when I'm using an environment that employs compiz or Kwin5
Comment 3 Rui Matos 2014-10-20 09:46:35 UTC
Let me guess, are you using the nvidia binary driver?
Comment 4 Antoine Saroufim 2014-10-20 10:57:44 UTC
That is a correct guess.
Comment 5 Rui Matos 2014-10-20 11:10:33 UTC
Right, this is just another symptom of bug 728464.
