GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 738005
Brush spacing can't be set in paint tool options
Last modified: 2014-11-22 01:29:50 UTC
Brush distance isn't controllable via brush presets. Lets say if i want a pearl-necklace, i use the default round brush and set the brush distance at 115, then i proceed and create a preset of this settings. (blessed presets, i love them) The next time i start the Gimp and use my pearl-necklace preset, the brush distance is still the default brush distance set in the brush itself, rather than follow the preset settings. In the meantime i created a new brush set at a distance of 115, but… Would be nice to have this inconvenience solved in some way- Brush distance should be a feature of tool options, not?
This is exactly the reason why we "duplicated" brush size in tool options, we should probably do the same for spacing.

Yes, that would be nice ! i use every feature possible when it comes handy and speeds up my workflow. I think the future of tool customization should be dynamic, the tool option dialog and the tool presets dialog are good methods - instead to use static values defined in a brush file.
I think it should be done the same way as for size. Bitmap brushes do have a native size and should probably have a native spacing that matches its purpose. But spacing should be controllable from tool options like size.
