GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 737494
Drop down menu "OPEN" text and background text colors turn white...
Last modified: 2014-10-28 21:15:25 UTC
Created attachment 287255 [details] File menu text background color white. This bug is easily repeatable, happens every time as described below. Launch GIMP. Click on "File" in the drop-down menu bar at the top of the window. move the mouse cursor down over the choice "Open" (this is the bug) >The text turns white with a light gray background. This happens when you move the cursor from the top of the drop down menu to "Open", but if you move the cursor below "Open" to "Open as Layer" then move the cursor back up to "Open" the highlighted text appears as it should. next part of the bug: Click on "Open", in the "Open Image" window, the text in the files list, (Name, Size, Modified...) normally displays every line with black text and every other line with default gray color background color. Currently, every other line has the gray background color like it should, but the text background color is white for every line of text. (this is another part of the bug) When you mouse over to select a file and click it once, all the text turns white, so with the white text background color, no text is visible. Additionally and related to the problem stated above: In the Layers window where images of the layers are followed by description text, The highlighted layer text turns white with white text background color only where the text is, the rest of the selected layer background color in that Layers window remains gray as it should. I've attached screenshots which show the issues I was able to capture.

Hi, I believe this to be the same to bug 736092 and/or bug 736084. A user solved the issue by deleting one's .gimp folder. Please *DO NOT* do so. Try to move the folder (or rename it), then start GIMP. Check if the problem is fixed. If it is, please send us the .gimp folder as a compressed file so that we can study it and find the origin of the problem. Thanks.
I'm using a PC, and I don't know where the folder referred to above is located in my files/folders directory on my hard drive. Hello, I received an email regarding this issue indicating the problem is on the user's side due to options settings, I don't think that is true because prior to the latest revision, the problem with the font and background color being the same didn't exist, therefore it isn't the user's personal options settings which has caused this bug, but rather some coding which was modified relative to fonts and related instructions. At any rate, I'd love to have this issue resolved sooner rather than later, it is troublesome when trying to read effected text. Best regards, Jerry.
Let's regard this as a duplicate of bug 736092. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 736092 ***
