GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 736848
verify and update all URLs which are used or printed to the users log
Last modified: 2015-07-12 19:32:53 UTC
Please verify all URLs used in the project and update them, I really don't know how tracker works, or does it contact any outside location while running (I hope it doesn't), but still it spit out a lot of URLs into the journal log, one of them is 'http://www.tracker-project.org/..." which is probably old project page, but doesn't exist anymore, there is some Japanese website there which doesn't look like tracker related. Not sure why is this needed in the log? Only use of URLs in the log would be bug tracker if something goes wrong, other addresses if useful should be in documentation and on the website?
For the record, I think these are mainly ontology changes (after doing a quick git grep on the code base). Looking at the supported changes to the ontology: https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/Tracker/Documentation/SupportedOntologyChanges I don't see anything mentioned about changing prefixes and the full URLs. I would expect this to fully break any existing installation and require a complete reindex. Ivan, Philip and comment?
Yes, this breaks everything.
The URLs are the unique resource locators for ontology properties and classes. It doesn't matter what their value is, only thing that matters is that they are globally unique. I don't think it's worth changing them at all.
