Description rodja trappe 2002-02-28 23:54:28 UTC
It would be nice if Nautilus could be used as the file selector in any
Gnome Application.
For example take gedit. If you click the 'open' Button, you'll get a File
selector. it's not that nice. no Button to go to the Home Dir, no Icons no
great drag&drop, no Bookmarks etc.!
Nautilus would be the perfect replacement.

Taking away the GNOME2 keyword, since this is very general, and not GNOME2-specific.
Marking "future", since this is not likely to be done soon.

For what it's worth, I
don't think this is a good idea. A file selector needs to be far more minimal. I'm not
saying a better file selector isn't a good idea, just that Nautilus is not the answer.

This is so notabug. The idea is that a gnome bonobo component should
be used in gnome apps for file-selection, or use the stock gtk file
selector widget.

wontfix, see the captains of nautilus article for the reasons why.
