Description Allan Day 2014-04-14 08:27:33 UTC
We used to display this in the user menu, but the new system status menu removed it. The plan was to add chat status to the message tray (see bug 707073), but it never happened.

Allan: Version = 3.11? That's old.

And now the message tray itself is gone as well - so is this still something we want to address in the shell, or do we leave it to applications?

Ideal would be to have 'top buttons' on the chat notification, or perhaps at least a simple switch/dropdownmenu ( i think this would go well with the whole gnome-HIG, some action button/switch on top of an expanded chat notification, when replying inline) to have the possibility to switch chat statuses immediately when acting with a chat message. or atleast to see the current status :(
(other possible actions for the top buttons butons could be - show contacts, open in chat app, attach file....)

Integrated chat is more or less dead, so closing.
