Description jon richter 2014-04-07 13:37:05 UTC
If I open Geary, the first selected, main inbox will be empty at first.

Selecting another one and returning fixes this behaviour.

What email service are you using? How many messages (approximately) are in your Inbox?
Comment 2 titi 2014-05-06 19:29:59 UTC
I have the same problem here, with two inboxes. The first one is a gandi mail imap service, with only 10 messages. The main inbox seems to empty 2 seconds after showing.
If I click on another inbox, and return, the messages come back.

titi, can you run Geary like this from a terminal window:

$ geary --debug --log-network > geary.log

Run Geary, repro the problem, then close Geary. You should examine the log file for private information which you can excise. Then either attach it here or mail it to geary@yorba.org.

Redacted output of: geary --debug --log-network

FWIW, I have seen this pretty much at every startup. The default account is against a Cyrus cyrus-imapd 2.4.12 server, with usually a few hundred email in the inbox.

With more recent builds, the behaviour seems to have has changed somewhat: After the window shows up, the default account's inbox appears selected in the folder list, and correct message list loads. Then, after less than second, the message list is refreshed and contains only a partial list of messages - the first message is at least a few weeks old and anything more recent is missing. On selecting another folder and then switching back, the correct message list is correctly shown.

Note that selecting another inbox from a non-default account for the first time doesn't exhibit this behaviour.

I am experiencing this issue as well, with the same behaviour as described by Mike Gratton above. In this case, I have three mailboxes: The primary is a dovecot-service with a few thousand mails, the second is a Microsoft Exchange service, and the third is Gmail. Geary is freshly build from master.

Let me know if I should create logs...
Comment 8 Jim Nelson 2014-08-13 22:03:55 UTC
Hey folks, thanks for the logs. They helped me generate a repro case here. I'm looking at it right now, hopefully will have something available soon.
Comment 9 Jim Nelson 2014-08-13 22:27:13 UTC
Pushed to master, commit b72b640.

However, I could only reproduce this by modifying other code (to force the issue). I would appreciate it if someone here could pull master and verify the problem is solved. I'll close the ticket when I hear back.
Comment 10 Martin Hundebøll 2014-08-14 05:44:18 UTC
I can confirm that this is solved in master (eb1b997). Thanks!
Comment 11 Jim Nelson 2014-08-14 19:21:16 UTC
Fantastic. I'm tentatively closing this. However, if anyone else still sees this problem, please let me know and we'll reopen.

Released w/ 0.6.2.
