GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 720578
Unable to sort out different versions of an album
Last modified: 2013-12-17 09:37:29 UTC
The app is mistaken and puts together different versions of an album in only one album. For instance the album "Cruising with Ruben & The Jets" by the Mothers of Invention as originally released in 1968 is COMPLETELY different from the 1987 remastered and remixed version (which includes 80s style bass lines and percussions, etc.). Yet, Music puts them together in one track list. (So the player will play track 1 from 1968, then track 1 from 1987, and so on; which results in poor experience (The metadata of my files is correct.) The Music app should be able to differentiate albums when they have different dates. (Banshee does that well). (Ideally, it should be smart enough to differentiate other things. I have yet to find a music player that is smart enough to understand that I might enjoy listening to stereo or mono variations of an album…)
