GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 719954
Copying and moving of files should be done in serial instead of parallel when possible
Last modified: 2013-12-17 12:43:43 UTC
I have just suffered this situation: 1. I have a local folder with various big files and another one that is on a external USB drive. 2. I want to move some of them to the external drive -> If I select, for example, three files at the same time and move them to the drive, they are scheduled to be moved "in a serial way" (I mean, when the first file is moved, the second one starts to be moved...) -> If I select a file and move it and, while it's being moved, I select another file to be moved to the same place... the files are moved in parallel, leading to much poorer speed rates (probably because HD needs to expend some time reading both files at the same time) => I think that would be better if all files that are going to be moved from the same place to the same one should be added to a queue to achieve faster speeds Thanks a lot
