Sample image after rotation.

I opened a sample jpg image, rotated it 90 degrees and saved it over itself. Gimp resaved the metadata it knew about, but not the DwC XMP metadata that was also in the original image.

All the metadata in the original can be seen using exiftool, eog, or gthumb.

I am testing with version 2.9.1.

Why did you file the same bug again?

Comment 3 Alan Pater 2013-12-01 02:01:37 UTC
Michael, it is not the same issue. This one is about metadata being destroyed while editing a photo.

bug 71955 is only about being able to view the metadata.

I'll change the subject title so that this is clearer.
Comment 4 Michael Natterer 2013-12-01 12:43:23 UTC
It is exactly the same issue, gexiv2/exiv2 doesn't read the metadata,
that's why it is not viewable and not saved to a newly exported image.
