Info on how to do this is here: http://redmine.yorba.org/projects/shotwell/wiki/ShotwellFAQ#I-found-a-bug-in- Shotwell-How-can-I-report-it #### #2 Updated by Dominik Holler about 2 years ago * **File** shotwell.gdb added * **File** shotwell.log added sry the missing files The bug looks little different today, last days the progress bar stayed at 0, but today it stops in the middle. #### #3 Updated by Adam Dingle about 2 years ago Note that this bug has been reported on Lucid, which Yorba doesn't officially support. It can certainly stay open in the bug database, but investigating this may not be a high priority for Yorba. #### #4 Updated by Dominik Holler about 2 years ago Adam Dingle wrote: bq. Note that this bug has been reported on Lucid, which Yorba doesn't officially support. It can certainly stay open in the bug database, but investigating this may not be a high priority for Yorba. Last days importing did not work, even on single core. I installe ubuntu 11.04 on the affected box, hope this helps. #### #5 Updated by Dominik Holler about 2 years ago * **File** shotwell.log added * **File** shotwell.gdb added After starting shotwell cosumes some time 100% cpu (on dual core box, so using one cpu). maybe this is connected to the bug. #### #6 Updated by Dominik Holler about 2 years ago * **File** shotwell.gdb added * **File** shotwell.log added shotwell hangs on fetching perview from cam. #### #7 Updated by Dominik Holler about 2 years ago * **File** shotwell.gdb added * **File** shotwell.log added shotwell hangs on fetching photo information from cam #### #8 Updated by Dominik Holler about 2 years ago * **File** shotwell.gdb added * **File** shotwell.log added hangs on import #### #9 Updated by Adam Dingle about 2 years ago * **Subject** changed from _Import hangs_ to _[lucid] Import hangs_ * **Description** updated (diff) #### #10 Updated by Dominik Holler about 2 years ago * **Subject** changed from _[lucid] Import hangs_ to _Import hangs_ sorry, it is not lucid anymore. I have changed to shotwell 0.11.2-1~natty from yorba ppa on Ubuntu 11.04 (because of this bug). #### #11 Updated by Jim Nelson about 2 years ago * **Category** set to _4_ * **Priority** changed from _Normal_ to _High_ * **Target version** set to _0.12_ Dominik, is Shotwell hanging or crashing? Looking at one of your gdb traces it looks like Shotwell crashed in the same place as has been reported in #4172. Looking at another, it appears to be a similar problem as #4181, namely the background scan is taking a long time to complete and is competing for time with the import. #### #12 Updated by Jim Nelson about 2 years ago * **Assignee** set to _Jim Nelson_ #### #13 Updated by Adam Dingle about 2 years ago * **Assignee** deleted (<strike>_Jim Nelson_</strike>) #### #14 Updated by Adam Dingle over 1 year ago * **Target version** deleted (<strike>_0.12_</strike>) #### #15 Updated by Jim Nelson 11 months ago * **Target version** set to _0.14.0_ #### #16 Updated by Jim Nelson 11 months ago * **Category** set to _import_ * **Priority** changed from _High_ to _Urgent_ Let's take a look at the logs and see if anything jumps out at us. This might be so old we can't do anything about it. #### #17 Updated by Jim Nelson 10 months ago * **Status** changed from _Open_ to _Need Information_ * **Priority** changed from _Urgent_ to _Normal_ Dominic, this is such a particular problem, we've had trouble reproducing this. Can you reproduce this problem still? What version of Shotwell and Ubuntu are you on now? #### #18 Updated by Dominik Holler 10 months ago The import does **not** hang anymore with shotwell 0.11.6-1~natty from ppa. #### #19 Updated by Jim Nelson 10 months ago * **Status** changed from _Need Information_ to _5_ * **Resolution** set to _invalid_ Ok -- I'm going to close this ticket then. If you see this problem again, please let us know. #### #20 Updated by Charles Lindsay 7 months ago * **Status** changed from _5_ to _Invalid_ #### #21 Updated by Brian Preuß 7 months ago Import hangs on Ubuntu 13.04 with Shotwell 0.14.1 while loading via USB from a Canon EOS 450D camera. After the camera shuts off automatically, Shotwell is back again with no photos imported. Just tell me what data you need for further investigation and I will happily provide it :) Setting SHOTWELL_LOG=1 continues with import where normal logging hangs :) I see multiple entries like this: L 6818 2013-05-06 20:58:08 [WRN] ImportPage.vala:1572: Unable to fetch preview for /store_00020001/DCIM/100CANON/IMG_2138.JPG: [-6] Error retrieving file object for /store_00020001/DCIM/100CANON/IMG_2138.JPG: Nicht unterstützte Funktion L 6818 2013-05-06 20:58:08 [DBG] GPhoto.vala:196: Adjusted length of thumbnail for: IMG_2139.JPG L 6818 2013-05-06 20:58:08 [DBG] GPhoto.vala:196: Adjusted length of thumbnail for: IMG_2140.JPG L 6818 2013-05-06 20:58:09 [DBG] GPhoto.vala:196: Adjusted length of thumbnail for: IMG_2141.JPG L 6818 2013-05-06 20:58:09 [WRN] Directory Thumbnail, entry 0x0201: Data area exceeds data buffer, ignoring it. I see gray images with a red strikes circle for this images. #### #22 Updated by Jim Nelson 7 months ago That sounds like a gphoto problem. What version of gphoto do you have on your system? #### #23 Updated by Brian Preuß 7 months ago Jim Nelson wrote: > That sounds like a gphoto problem. What version of gphoto do you have on your system? libgphoto2-2 2.4.14-2 (Standard Ubuntu 13.04) #### #24 Updated by Jim Nelson 7 months ago You might try upgrading to libgphoto 2.5.2, which includes some important fixes. I don't know if it fixes problems with your particular camera, however. --- Bug imported by chaz@yorba.org 2013-11-25 21:54 UTC --- This bug was previously known as _bug_ 4098 at http://redmine.yorba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4098 Imported an attachment (id=262144) Imported an attachment (id=262145) Imported an attachment (id=262146) Imported an attachment (id=262147) Imported an attachment (id=262148) Imported an attachment (id=262149) Imported an attachment (id=262150) Imported an attachment (id=262151) Imported an attachment (id=262152) Imported an attachment (id=262153) Unknown milestone "unknown in product shotwell.
