GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 714466
Provide statically linked binaries of Geary for download
Last modified: 2017-12-08 00:44:28 UTC
---- Reported by jim@yorba.org 2013-04-26 12:05:00 -0700 ---- Original Redmine bug id: 6872 Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6872 Searchable id: yorba-bug-6872 Original author: Jim Nelson Original description: One crowdfunding contributor has suggested we offer statically linked binaries of Geary for users to download. They would offer the whole shebang -- including WebKit -- as one big executable. Some libraries we may decide to link dynamically, such as GTK. The motivation is that a sizable number of users have to wait for their distros to package Geary, or may be running older versions of libraries and be reluctant to upgrade en masse to try out Geary. I'd love to see this happen with Geary. I'll be tracking this feature. --- Bug imported by chaz@yorba.org 2013-11-21 20:26 UTC --- This bug was previously known as _bug_ 6872 at http://redmine.yorba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6872 Unknown version " in product geary. I wonder if this still makes sense, now that Flatpack is available and solves the problem described by Jim.
Yeah, Flatpak is definitely the way forward here. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 766479 ***
