GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 711381
Ctrl+F focus the search field again
Last modified: 2014-02-28 11:04:30 UTC
I think it would be convenient to allow users to get focus again on search entry by pressing Shift-TAB and/or, more general, that search entry get focus when user press Ctrl-F and search entry isn't focused (both when search bar is showed or not). Actually, if user wants to get focus again on search entry using keyboard when search bar is already showed, user needs to press Ctrl-F twice, loosing the current search.
I think this is a good idea (I have reported it, but the idea is from Damian Nohales, separated from bug 711366), however it's hard to find good defaults. After a search and pressing Ctrl+F again I might want to enter another search text or I could modify the search text, so I think I'll set the default on second Ctrl+F to refocus the textfield and select all text, so when I start typing, a new entry is entered.
This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
