Proly worth saying that I don't have the means to actually test this element :) So any testing would be highly appreciated.
Hrm, I think this element should just be removed really. It's not really that useful these days, is it?
Do we have any other way to do the same? If it works and it's the only alternative I'd vouch to keep it but yeah, I don't rly have any strong opinions on this.
What do you think it does exactly, and why do you think it's useful? Have you ever used it? Do you know anyone who has used it lately?
No never used it and know no one that has. As per the element's purpose, I understand this element should enable you to listen to a CDDA using the drive as the playback device on those cdrom drives that support this (those that came with a headphone jack and sometimes even with HW playback controls). I think it's useful because I see no other element providing such functionality. All This being said though, if someone cared enough to program it and it's still there in the codebase I see little harm on taking it to 1. More than this, maybe I'm being too just blind or something but I see no gain whatsoever on it being removed? Let me know if you want it removed and I can take care of it. Otherwise I will wait till someone tries it out with 1. and commit if there are no further objections.
Agreed on IRC: Patch to be committed and the element staged for removal.
