Description Thomas Koch 2013-10-26 16:50:23 UTC
At the beginning I wanted to have the same panel configuration on my laptop and my workstation. Something like this would need to involve syncing dconf data.

Eclipse has a configuration system very similar to dconf. Workspace Mechanic[1] is a tool to synchronize eclipse configuration settings across workspaces.

[1] https://code.google.com/a/eclipselabs.org/p/workspacemechanic

Workspace Mechanic runs in the background and continuously checks whether configuration settings are set corresponding to the values stored in the Workspace Mechanic files. If it discovers discrepancies, it asks the user:

- correct the setting?
- ask again later?
- ignore in this workspace?

A tool like this would be very useful for gnome. Maybe it would be a nice summer of code task?
