Feel free to ask questions about the design here: it's important to get the interaction right for this feature.

Personally, for import/export from/to device, I prefer a combo-box for switch from “My Music” to “Device” like on top left in this mockup: http://gitorious.org/gnome-design/gnome-design/blobs/raw/master/mockups/music/alt/music-aday.png

This combo-box can serve to switch between sources of music like “My Music”, "CD", "Phone or walkman", "LastFM", “Jamendo”, “Music shared by computer AAAA”, etc.

Removing the available whiteboard - we're not really using it any more.

What about extending use case of importing feature not only to CD's? But also to a downloaded music or external storage media, for example.

So you can just point GNOME Music to album folder you want to import to your local Music collection, and Music will handle it. Automatically copying, naming and structuring it into your ~/Music directory(just like Rhythmbox can). And don't forget desired structure setting.

Some of these might be good, but they seem a bit different from CD import, so probably need separate bugs.
