GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 707743
GOA fails to connect to Facebook
Last modified: 2013-10-17 09:52:19 UTC
I have been experiencing this bug for a few months now in Ubuntu Gnome 12.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 (via Ubuntu Online Accounts) where when I add a FB account, it looks okay UNTIL I try and connect to it with, well, anything even the GOA itself, I tried 13.10 (like I usually do with alpha/beta releases) and this bug is still present, what's more is this bug is present in OTHER distros (I'm filing a bug on Launchpad.net as I type), reason I'm filing this here is I'm making sure it's not something in Ubuntu that isn't playing nice (doubtful since Arch doesn't inherit the patches from Ubuntu) What I expected to happen: Facebook to work with GOA and Empathy, What actually happened: GOA looked like it tried to connect to FB, but gets an authorization error, I double and triple checked the details I entered, even resorted to copy/paste. Distros and Gnome versions I attempted this on: Arch Linux with Gnome 3.10 Ubuntu 13.04 with Gnome 3.8 Ubuntu 13.10 with Gnome 3.8 Launchpad.net page: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-online-accounts/+bug/1222586
What version of telepathy-gabble are you using?
I want to make sure that you are not hitting https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68829
sorry, was out of town for a bit, the version of telepathy-gabble I'm currently using (in Ubuntu 13.10) is 0.18.1-1
I have the same problem on fedora. My tp-gabble version is 0.18.1-1.fc20 Funny thing: if you just create an XMPP account for facebook - it will work fine, it's the GOA account which isn't working.
