GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 707235
message list corrupt
Last modified: 2013-09-01 17:53:12 UTC
My message list is missing many messages and has also lost the read status for (apparently) all messages (that, they show as unread). One message marked ToDo is still so marked. I have marked this as major severity because it renders evolution unreliable, if not unusable. However, I was able to use evolution for weeks without this problem, so it must be triggered by unusual circumstances. This happened coincident with my clicking on an open evolution window (not sure if it was the message list or the main message display). I might have right clicked, though not intentionally. Before that, everything was fine; after it was as described above. Neither restarting evolution nor selecting "display deleted messages" helped. The message store is IMAP4; the messages are still visible there with mutt. I assume the local cache for the message index got trashed, but I don't know how, how to fix it, or what file(s) are involved. evolution 3.4.4-3, amd64 architecture, Debian wheezy. The remote mailbox is running courier-imap 4.1.1.20060828-5 (old Debian). I'm using imap with SSL. The connection is flakey, for unknown, but not evolution-specific, reasons. There are frequent timeouts on operations. The mailbox has a little under 19,000 messages. Running under KDE 4.8.4-2.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME. Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
