By default, the manual has no search box or button that allows the user to search for the information they need.

Clicking the obscure icon in the upper right corner loads the online manual, which has a search box. However, that's limited to the online version and I don't see a logical connection between the user wanting to search the offline manual and looking for a search function behind an icon of the gimp reading a book.
