GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 702857
Web App Icons sometimes have low resolution or are actually part of the page and not icons.
Last modified: 2016-01-26 00:33:01 UTC
When creating a web app in epiphany, the user is prompted with a menu that allows him/her to change the name of the Web App but nothing can be done to the icon of the app during the creation process. Only after the app is created, the user can change the icon via Alacarte. The problem with this method is that Epiphany sometimes chooses a low res icon or cuts a part of the page and displays it as an icon when it's not. I can propose two solutions: 1 - let the user paste a URL that he/she would like the Web App to use as an Icon during the process of creation 2 - Display a list of collected icons from the website and have the user choose the appropriate one.
What pages are you having this problem with?
Several pages actually. Here are a few examples: Feedly.com Worldofgnome.org webup8.org
Basically we need to address them individually. I've written up some documentation on how we determine the icon to use: https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Web/Applications I've contacted Worldofgnome.org to ask them to add an icon.
I'm having this problem with GMail, and other Google web apps (Calendar, Drive, Maps, Google+,...).
add 8tracks.com and steampowered.com to the list too
