Description dgilbert 2013-06-18 14:40:08 UTC
When I can't connect to a Windows share I don't want to see the Linux words associated with ENOTUNIQ. I want an option to see this: "Domain=[XXXX] OS=[Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation 7601 Service Pack 1] Server=[Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation 6.1] tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_DUPLICATE_NAME".

With the former I can find no help solving my problem. A more honest error message would be "failed and we transformed the actual error message into a useless integer". At least with the command line I saw the full error message from Windows and then I have enough information to solve it.

Please don't dumb down error/warning messages! At least supply an option (verbose ?) for the "full book and verse" error/warning message(s).

If your error processing is trying to reduce an error message from another OS into a Linux/Unix errno, then please rewrite.
