I think the space between icons is somewhat exaggerated in icon view, especially when you increase the size of them. Could integrate an element to customize the spacing between icons?

Thanks for the bug report.

Yes, nautilus icon view doesn't make a good use of space, and it gets worse
when we zoom in. Developers want to replace it with something better, but there
are some performance concerns. More details on bug 552093.
