GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 701938
Link to a file does not update in real time
Last modified: 2020-02-08 21:22:05 UTC
User can observe that if he makes a link for a file and then moves the file to trash, the link will display error message that the file is of unknown type. Selecting nautilus to open the unknown type file will make the link broken as it should be. Restoring the file from Trash will update the link as working again in real time Steps : 1. Boot system 2. Right click on a file and select "make link" 3. After the link is created, move the file to trash 4. Observe link is still active saying that the file is of unknown extension 5. Select to open the unknown file extension with nautilus 6. Observe the link is now marked as broken correctly 7. Restore the file from trash 8. Observe that link is updated in real time Expected outcome: Moving the linked file to trash should update the link in real time as broken Actual outcome: Moving the linked file to trash will trigger an error of unknown file extension Additional info: See on nautilus 3.8.1
This bug is still present in nautilus 3.10.0 r1, tested on Fedora 20.
