this error affects loading of other image types (i.e. GIF, etc)

OS Details: RedHat 7.2 (updated to all errata/updates) (I submitted
this bug but bugzilla doesn't seem to think so.)

Closing 1.5.x reports since the control-center has been totally
rewritten in 2.0.x and development of 1.5.x has stopped.
